Historical Development in Nagoda Division
* Ingravel grouth of Nagoda Divisional Secretariat (Earlier Divisional Secretaraiat is known as Revenue office) was at 1968.
* Divisional Secretariat Nagoda is the smallest administrative unit and it consists of below Grama Niladari Division.(from 1881 to 1990)
* 1981 - Division - 17
* 1990 - Division - 53
Geographical Location
Starting from the center of the Galle District and to the eastern boundary, the Nagoda Divisional Secretariat will be located. This division is known as Gangabada Paththu, North.
It is located between the eastern lengths range from 800 -1400 to 800 - 2400
and between North latitude range from 600 - 800 to 600 - 1700
From North and North Western of the division Niyagama Divisional Secretariat Division, from Northeast, Thawalama Divisional Secreatariat Division, from east Matara District, from Yakkalamulla Divisional Secretariat Division, From South Western, Baddegama Divisional Secretariat Division, From West Welivitiya-Divithura Divisional Secretariat Division is located.
The area of the Nagoda Divisional Secretariat is 17471 hectares. It covers 174 square kilometers. Nagda Divisional Secreatary's Division occupies the second place in the Galle Dstrict and 11% of the total area of the Galle District.
Nagoda Divisional Secretariat Division belongs to Baddegama and Hiniduma electoral divisions. From the 53 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Nagoda Division, 37 are in the Hiniduma electorate and 16 in the Baddegama electorate.
Minister of Home Affairs of the Dudley Senanayake Government of 1968 Hon. Dr. Wijayananda Dahanayake was allocated an Assistant Divisional Secretary's Division for Nagoda for the first time. As the invitatin of Hiniduma Member of Parliament Mr.M.S.Amarasiri.Mr. P.A.A.T. Gunasinghe was the Galle Government Agent at the time.
Accordingly, the Nagoda Gam Sabha office office has been taken to the new building in front of the Nagoda Maha Vidyalaya and the Divisional Revenue Office was located at the building of the old Gamaneguma office. The Divisional Revenue officer of Baddegama, was appointed as the Acting Divisional Revenue Officer of the (Nagoda)Gangaboda Paththuwa office and started its work in 1968 with 5 main persons including the Chief Clerk.Accordingly, the Divisional Revenue Officer's office consisted of 14 Grama Seva Divisions. In March 1968, a permanent Divisional Revenue officer was appointed.He is the Divisional Revenue Officer Berty Jayasekara. Later the Divisional Revenue Officer, has been telecast to the Assistant Government Agent and Divisional Secretary as follows.
